Alternative Christmas party ideas at London venues

Are you planning your company Christmas party yet? You can bet that your employees (and your clients) are already looking forward to it, and are wondering what’s on the menu this year.  A popular way to show appreciation for hard work, this special seasonal event also boosts staff morale and brings a busy year to a close in a fun, team-building way.

Businesses each have their favourite ways to celebrate, and preferred types of venue that fit with the personality of the company; themed events can also play a big part, whether it’s a certain dress code or bespoke planned activities.

If you still haven’t made your mind up where you’re going or what you’ll do, here are some event ideas to inspire you to do something fantastic this year...

Winter Wonderland at Hampton Court Palace

This historic building, more than 500 years old, has hosted visits from kings, queens, politicians and even Shakespeare. Opened to “all her subjects without restriction” by Queen Victoria in 1838, this remains a regal venue for a Christmas party. Hampton Court Palace offers an award-winning caterer and gives your colleagues a chance to dance the night away to music, courtesy of a resident DJ, until 1am.

Mid Budget
Companies can choose to have their Christmas party at lunchtime. These daytime events include ice-skating on the palace lawn, followed by a delectable three course meal in the stunning Garden Room.

High Budget
An upgrade gives your employees the chance to twirl around the famous ice rink or experience a private tour of the palace for a truly special event. There is a minimum of 100 guests; the package includes a drinks reception, three course meal, coffee and chocolates, wine, DJ and dancing, free parking and carriages at 1am.

Enchanting Elegance at Kensington Roof Gardens

Invite your colleagues to step into an enchanted land at the Roof Gardens in Kensington, one of the largest roof gardens in Europe and a favourite hangout of its owner Richard Branson. Your guests will certainly appreciate the ultimate festive experience, beautiful winter marquees and the opportunity to explore three themed gardens, complete with famous friendly flamingos!

Mid Budget
Christmas Lunch Parties consist of a glass of fizz on arrival, a three course seated lunch or buffet menu, half a bottle of selected red or white wine per person, table centres and Christmas theming.

High Budget
Kensington Roof Gardens also offer the traditional Christmas Evening Parties. These start with a glass of fizz on arrival, a three course seated dinner or buffet menu, a five hour unlimited beverage package, a DJ and lots of festival touches. This is a night not to be missed.

The Awesomely Alternative Cirque Noir at The Deck (National Theatre)

Cirque Noir offers a thrilling and mysterious corporate Christmas party with a difference. Guests enter The Deck through a menacing custom-built entrance that hints at “dark fun to be found”. Decorated in vintage style with an eerie twist – shadows and silhouettes, white Christmas trees decadent furniture and lavish drapes – theatrical lighting adds even more drama against a backdrop of the stunning views of London’s famous twinkling skyline.

Diners will be entertained “enticing and sultry circus performers” and enjoy a choice of two indulgent menus to complement the enchanted events space – a standing reception and a seated dinner. Both include an unlimited drinks package and The Deck’s popular photo booth.

High Budget
The five-course dinner had been designed for 30-70 guests and is served from 6pm–11pm. Diners can tuck into seasonal salad, home-smoked salmon, stuffed capon and a Christmas pudding soufflés. Vegetarian options are available.

Rarified Revelry at the RAF Museum

This is certainly not your typical Christmas party venue, yet its charm will captivate your all guests – especially those who appreciate history, engineering and aviation.

Situated on the site of the original London Aerodrome, the Royal Air Force Museum London contains a magnificent collection, which includes some very early aircraft designs through to the latest modern day jets and military aviation. Your guests can mingle among the Spitfires or dine beneath the wings of an iconic Lancaster – a truly unforgettable experience for any party. This really is a venue with a difference, with two packages available.

Low Budget
This Christmas Reception Package is ideal for more informal receptions where guests can network among the historic collection while enjoying delicious bowl food.

Mid Budget
The mid budget Christmas Dinner Package creates a more traditional festive atmosphere. Your guests will have a three course seated dinner complete with table decorations and, of course, classic cracker jokes.
