What we did

Misco UK, part of parent company Systemax Inc, are a leading reseller of IT products and services and have a dedicated sales team who sell a variety of products across the IT sector. These products are supplied by Misco products vendors such as Microsoft and HP, with competition being high in the IT sector vendors are always looking at new ways to incentivise those selling their products.

Misco approached Corporate Rewards with a requirement to provide a centralised platform which could host multi-vendor promotions in one place. The key requirement was to promote an element of consistency across the promotions which would enhance the user experience, leading to a more engagement and a productive sales team. They also wanted to reduce the administration burden on the team by structuring the incentive and reward elements across all vendors.

The platform was to maintain a Misco look and feel while providing an area for vendors to promote their incentives. Additional banner space was also important for those vendors who wished to invest more to make their incentive more prominent online. Total site hits have more than doubled since launch with over 1500 total hits each month.

Initially, a white label site was set up to facilitate the upcoming launch of the fully bespoke site. With tight timelines, this allowed us to use a phased approach with regard to user set up, and it meant users could start accumulating reward points while the new site was being built. All points were transferred to the accounts and a full communication plan was devised to ensure a smooth transition and impactful launch on the bespoke platform. After 12 months, the system has awarded points for over 11,000 sales made by Systemax employees.

During the scoping phase Corporate Rewards facilitated a programme workshop with key members of the business to define both the business and programme requirements.

One of the main elements was how the programme would handle data – due to the huge amount of data that required processing it was important that we developed an automated data integration process that was seamless and required little manual intervention. Data integration also allows a short period of time between making a sale and being rewarded for that sale, helping to maintain user engagement in the programme.

User engagement has remained high since launch, with 46% of all users logging in last month, compared to 42% at launch. Other key elements including an administration area which provided Systemax with tailored reporting functionality, a claim area where users could log a claim for non-standard sales and optional online league tables to encourage healthy competition between sales team members.

Ultimately, Corporate Rewards were able to offer Misco a solution which not only fit their requirements but also those of their vendors too. Initially Misco had targeted a total of two live vendor promotions each month but currently the programme averages six promotions. Greater vendor confidence in the programme has led to increased participation throughout the year with 12 promotions frequently online.

To ensure their target audience engaged with the programme, we encouraged vendors to offer a variety of different ways recipients could be rewarded. Individuals could receive points for each sale made, be entered into a prize draw for the chance to win a trip away or could be placed within a league table whereby the top individual was rewarded with a prize. Users accumulated points from multiple promotions running at one time, which could be collectively spent against prizes included in our reward catalogue, positioned on the site.

Each individual had full visibility of all their total points accrued from all promotions, which they could redeem through the rewards catalogue. They could even have a ‘goal reward’ that they could work towards achieving, visible on their dashboard when logged in to keep them focussed. The site automatically updated the target, based on sales achieved.
